Well, I’ve finally decided to give this whole blogging thing a try. Not really for anyone’s benefit other than my own, but hopefully keep at least one person mildly entertained by my trials and tribulations! What predicated this decision? I just finished my attempt at thru-hiking the John Muir Trail, a 211-mile long trail through the Sierra Nevada ‘range of light’. I say attempted because, well, I just didn’t complete it. I kept a very short daily journal along the trail, but wanted to expand on it while it’s still fresh in my mind. And, even though it wasn’t a ‘success’ in terms of completing the JMT, it was a total success in getting me out there, trying something new, and getting me ready and excited to go back an finish, as well as start backpacking and hiking in new places, wherever I can find them!
